Reporting to the Veterinary Manager or Senior Assistant Veterinarian, you will provide veterinary and support services to Researchers and assist the Veterinary Manager in managing the National Large Animal Facility (NLARF) and or SingHealth Experimental Medicine Center (SEMC)s.
You will provide consultancy services to Researchers on veterinary related matters. You will perform animal anesthesia, necropsy, health monitoring and experimental surgical procedures. You will identify animal diseases and administer appropriate treatments. You will oversee the maintenance of animal facilities and conduct animal procedures in accordance with guidelines and standards set by the National Advisory Committee on Laboratory Animal Research (NACLAR) and Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC ) International.
You will assist the Veterinary Manager to handle animal permits and licenses in accordance with AVA regulations. You will review and monitor research protocols in accordance with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and NACLAR guidelines.
You will assist to provide continuous training programs for Veterinary Assistants and users in handling animals as well as assist with orientation programs conducted for new staff and users of experimental animals.
•Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with at least 1 years’ experience in Large or Companion Animal Practice
•Candidate with previous experience as veterinary personnel in biomedical and/or translational research is preferred
•Able to handle large animal work and willing to perform shift and on-call duties.
•Computer literate and excellent project management skills
•Strong teamwork orientation and ability to manage cross-functional and institutional relationships are essential
•Ability to interact effectively with researchers, academicians, administrators and external clients
•Well-honed skills in mentoring to develop and lead subordinate staff
