Established in 1851, the Hong Kong Cricket Club (HKCC) is the second oldest club in Hong Kong. With over 2300 active members, HKCC is a family the club that provides a broad and diverse range of sports and social activities in a green environment. The Club is active in league cricket, hockey, lawn bowls, netball, rugby, squash and a host of other activities. HKCC operates seven food and beverage facilities in the heart of Hong Kong Island surrounded by the hills and greenery of Wong Nai Chung Gap. The club also owns and operates DotCod, a seafood restaurant and oyster bar in Central Hong Kong.
Job Description
The current General Manager is retiring and the HKCC is looking to appoint a talented and experienced general manager to lead the club into the future. The successful candidate will report to the General Committee and manage a well established team of departmental heads across a variety of areas including Food and Beverage Operations, Facilities Management, Finance, Human Resources and Sports and Recreation. Total staff is in excess of 200 and the leadership and motivation of all people employed by the Club will be a major responsibility. The effective management and utilisation of facilities and grounds is a key aspect of this role and the HKCC is focused on providing maximum value to it's members and the General Manager is accountable for achieving this objective. With responsibility for the bottom line performance of the Club, the General Manager must adhere to budgets and pay close attention to the control of receivables
The Successful Applicant
To qualify, applicants must be able to demonstrate a considerable track record of success leading the operation of a substantial club or similar organisation in a multicultural, quality focused environment. Previous management and leadership experience in an environment with a focus on hospitality and sport is sought as is a comprehensive understanding of the mechanics of a diverse food and beverage organisation. The successful candidate will have had substantial exposure to a truly diverse range of activities and stakeholders. An understanding and appreciation of cricket would be beneficial and an understanding of the importance of teamwork is critical. The General Manager must be diplomatic and culturally sensitive with the capacity to interact positively with members from all backgrounds. Outstanding communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are essential while high levels of business and commercial acumen will be a necessity.
