(Japanese Language) Translator / Linguistic Expert

Japanese Speaking - To handle Japan Market and Japanese Language Business Materials

Job Overview & Description:

The Company isseeking a Linguistic expert who has the relevant skills and qualifications to provide quality control services for translations of electronic and multi-media partner business materials to and from English and Japanese.

The candidate must possess the aptitude, language skills, attention to detail and proven work ethic to review completed materials for spelling, consistency, grammatical accuracy, translation accuracy, tone and style. The person will then recommend changes to both the materials and the processes to ensure translated materials are of the highest quality to enable our partners to confidentially self-serve.

The candidate must have excellent English and Japanese language skills and will collaborate with the operations, Content Publishers and Localization Service Providers to improve localization.

  • Linguistic quality assurance of localized Japanese content: grammar, typos, syntax, punctuation etc. Ensure accuracy of content in terms of its localization, translation, functionality and flow.

  • Maintain the integrity and meaning of translated materials through proactive and reactive ongoing review and recommended corrections.

  • Provide suggested translations for general and technical materials to and from Japanese and English.

  • Oversee on the resolution of translation inaccuracies raised through localization feedback by logging, documenting and reporting feedback to the department Business Process Manager and the Localization Service Provider to ensure it is actionable and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Work cross-functionally with Content Publishers and the Localization Service Provider to stay in alignment with appropriate writing styles, content and translations according to Japanese requirements.

  • Read a variety of unfamiliar subjects, relate ideas and make inferences, and accurately interpret the intent of the writer; providing informed feedback.

  • Assist in enhancing writing guidelines and instructions for Japanese localization.

  • Review and suggest changes to the localization style guides for Japanese.

  • Review and suggest changes to the Company Operations Glossary

  • Review and suggest changes to the terminology used in Japanese Translation Memories

  • Be able to leverage resources to ensure appropriate and accurate translations.

    In addition to the duties outlined above, the Linguist will review, assist and resolve localization feedback related to Japanese translated materials.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Linguistics and/or equivalent experience.

  • Native fluency in the Japanese. Proficiency in English. Write and speak clearly and coherently in Japanese and English.

  • Excellent knowledge of structural aspects of the language (syntax, semantics, phonology, phonetics).

  • Previous experience working with language data (e.g. translation, review, research, analysis).

  • Translation skills to and from English and Japanese.

  • Knowledge in localization.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, attention to detail, and proven ability to manage priorities are essential.
