Position Description:

  • Perform functions of a typical airline maintenance control leader in support of the program objectives
  • Coordinate with the assigned overseas maintenance provider for troubleshooting and rectifying of defects reported by the flight crew
  • Generate reports of daily operations delays and discuss issues in daily production meeting
  • Evaluate airline maintenance operations and make recommendations to improve dispatch reliability, as well as maintenance labor productivity and efficiency
  • Ensure all maintenance execution processes comply with contractual agreements with the operator
  • Create, update and manage all maintenance execution processes used by Boeing, operators and maintenance providers in support of line and base maintenance activities
  • Coordinate with customer on gate maintenance activities that may impact scheduled flight operations – customer maintenance control is responsible for troubleshooting support as required in support of gate maintenance
  • Coordinate clearing of Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and Configuration Deviation List (CDL) deferrals with customer
  • Communicate dispatch issues that may impact scheduled maintenance activities with Boeing Fleet Management Services Operations Center (GOC)
  • Administer contracts between Boeing Fleet Management and vendors for repair work performed on Boeing Fleet Management Customers aircraft, engines, or components, as required
  • Provide on-site liaison between Boeing Fleet Management and assigned repair agencies on all technical matters, delivery schedules, invoice discrepancies, warranty claims, and disposition of Boeing Fleet Management Customer's owned materials
  • Monitor work-in-progress to ensure that all vendor workmanship is of acceptable quality and that all work is accomplished in accordance with the specified work scope, in compliance with applicable specifications
  • Create and maintain procedures to be performed by customer's maintenance provider for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities
  • Provide support as required to promote personal and professional growth, and take charge of annual performance reviews of the Fleet Maintenance Staff
  • Provide leadership, overall administration, and general direction to the Customer's aircraft maintenance
  • Ensure that maintenance activities are properly coordinated, and that decisions regarding Fleet Maintenance are within the scope of their position's authority
  • Provide input to contract negotiations to ensure the contract satisfies Boeing Fleet Management and Boeing Fleet Management Customer's technical, contractual, quality, and schedule requirements
  • Take charge of the quality, cost, and delivery of all heavy aircraft maintenance performed at Fleet Management location
  • Direct the activities of the staff of Fleet Management Services group at the location to ensure all maintenance is performed in compliance with Regulations and Boeing Fleet Management policies
  • Coordinate with Boeing Fleet Management Maintenance Planning to develop adequate short and long-range maintenance requirements to ensure adequate Vendor Maintenance capacity and quality
  • Assist in the development of new or revised Boeing Fleet Management policies and programs, as required, to achieve Boeing Fleet Management objectives
  • Monitor contract fulfillment to ensure all vendors operate within contract requirements including cost, delivery schedule, and quality
  • Ensure, along with QA, that all Aviation Regulations and Boeing Fleet Management's technical policies are satisfied
  • Keep accurate records of discrepancies in sufficient details to support request for procedural changes and claims for adjustment of charges
  • Maintain an informed status of new developments in repair procedures and preventative actions to preclude maintenance problems
  • Recommend changes to maintenance programs and work specifications, based on experience with conditions found in Boeing Fleet Management Customer's equipment undergoing major maintenance
  • Work with the Vendor Engineering Department to ensure that required technical information is provided on time, and provide feedback on conditions found during the course of accomplishing the work
  • Apprise the Executive Leader of any issues that may affect safety, quality, cost, or schedule of Boeing Fleet Management aircraft while in vendor maintenance
  • Authorize changes in the work scope as dictated by changing conditions during maintenance, and communicate proposed changes to the Executive Leader
  • Perform root-cause analysis of significant aircraft discrepant conditions either present on arrival of aircraft, or resulting from work performed during maintenance
  • Manage other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Management

Competencies:

  • At least 5 years of airline/MRO-related work experience, including at least 2 years’ experience in a management position
  • Possess working knowledge and understanding of commercial airline and base maintenance operations and execution
  • Possess a FAA Airframe and power plant license or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to organize, prioritize and structure tasks and information
  • Willing and ready to make decisions and work in a team environment
