1) Intern Reporter with The Straits Times/ The Business Times/ The New Paper/ Berita Harian

You will gather facts and information through research and interviews, and present the information in a clear, concise and interesting way in the article you write.

Requirements

- Have a good command of the English and (Malay/Chinese) language.

- Have an inquisitive mind with a nose for news, a knack for gaining the trust of others to obtain information, a persistent attitude for pursuing stories, an eye for details, and ability to handle daily deadlines.

- Be Internet savvy and a regular surfer.

- Working hours: 5 days across a 7-day work week and different shifts will apply for different divisions.

2) Paginator Intern with The New Paper

- Photo selection and cropping

- Applying and amending layout templates

- Designing pages for print

Special requirements:

- Knowledge of Indesign

- Interest in page layout

3) Editorial Projects Unit (The Straits Times)

- Curation and editing of ST stories for ANN

- Editing of ANN stories for ST

- Research and reporting for articles for ST Asia Report magazine

- Promotion of ST articles via Linkedin and building up number of followers

- Curation of articles for Overseas Singaporeans

- Research for ST on Asia-related topics

- Building up of a customer database

- Assist in managing events, as they arise.

4) TNP Digital

You will help to keep the website updated with local and international news, adding various multimedia elements like graphics, picture galleries, sound and video as part of your duties. There will also be opportunities to build web specials where you'll use the traditional method of journalism by collecting news through interviews and observation.

Multimedia Journalist Intern:

You will develop, edit and produce content for multimedia platforms. You will produce video reports, and manage a section of your own within one of TNP’s digital offerings.

Requirements

- You are a digital native, “kaypoh” and not shy about it.

- You are savvy with social media.

- You MUST be a highly enthusiastic self-starter.

- You must be able to work both independently and responsibly, as well as in a tem; and manage projects on your own.

- You have a strong news sense with a good understanding of online and mobile readership and surfing patterns.

- Have a strong command of the English language.

- Knowledge of HTML or web programming, Dreamweaver, Premiere Pro, Photoshop &Drupal CMS will be an advantage.

- Be a soccer fan or showbiz fanatic.

- Be willing to work shifts.

5) ST Digital / BT Digital

You will help to keep the website updated with local and international news, adding various multimedia elements like graphics, picture galleries, sound and video as part of your duties. Engagement on social media is also expected where you'll publicly discuss issues and invite ideas and feedback from readers. There will also be opportunities to build web specials where you'll use the traditional method of journalism by collecting news through interviews and observation.

Requirements:

- A good command of the English language.

- Strong news sense.

- Be willing to work shifts (5.30am to 2.30pm and 2.30pm to 11.30pm) and weekends.

- Have an interest in and knowledge of current affairs, world & regional news (for BT - finance).

- Knowledge of HTML, Dreamweaver & Photoshop.

- Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3 and video editing is a plus.

- Be Internet savvy and a regular surfer.

6) Photo Desk with The Straits Times/ The Business Times/ The New Paper

Photographer Intern:

You will shoot newsworthy events and personalities, providing visuals that arouse and grab attention for stories. You must have an eye for pictures that project human interest and know the performance envelopes of your lenses and films. You need to be aware of trends and issues as you may be assigned to follow-up on events. An understanding of human nature and good communication skills to inspire co-operation from subjects are vital assets.

Requirements

- Good portfolio of news pictures.

- Have a good command of the language.

- Familiar with Photoshop and Illustrator.

- Be willing to work shifts

7) Art Desk / Creative Desk with The Straits Times/ The Business Times/ The New Paper/ Berita Harian

Infographics Journalists Intern:

You will be responsible for producing editorial illustrations for a wide range of stories for print, as well as for web and mobile. You will also conceptualise the illustrations from raw data, and produce both static and interactive visuals to suit the tone and theme of the pieces. You must have a keen interest in news and thrive on telling stories visually. You have creative flair with editorial design or illustration, an organised mind and can create infographics that will help readers understand the news better. You will be designing, editing and uploading content as well as managing multiple sections on SPH websites, in addition to preparing content for social media.

Requirements

- Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects and or, Coding, 3-D rendering, animation or drawing skills. (Any mixture of the skills would be a plus)

- Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3 and video editing is a plus.

- Be a self-starter, responsible and resourceful.

- Must be willing to work shifts.

8) The Business Times - Social Media Intern

Be a part of next-generation journalism with The Business Times and learn the skills applicable across industries. As a Social Media Intern for The Business Times watch your posts go viral as you stoke BT's social engine.

Responsibilities:

- Manage BT's social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ and Instagram).

- Engage with BT's social audience by creating and sharing engaging content.

- Craft narratives that span platforms (web, apps, social, newsletters and events) and media (text, infographics, polls & video).

Skills required:

- Strong command of English.

- Passion for telling stories in less words.

9) AsiaOne Intern

- Work with editors to curate and create articles, content packages, and videos on a daily basis

- Pitch stories to the editors on a daily basis during morning round-table meetings

- Upload content and photo galleries onto AsiaOne

- Possibly go out for assignments or interviews tasked by editors

- Conceptualise feature stories with editors and work on delivering it

- Take photographs and video footage for the website

Requirements

- Experience in writing, news reporting, or blogging

- Able to work independently with minimal guidance

- Has ownership of his or her tasks and work

- Minimum requirement: Writing experience, knowledge in HTML and basic Photoshop skills

- Skilled and familair in social media platforms and tools

- Additional skills like video editing is also appreciated

- Interest in digital innovative trends will be a plus

10) STOMP Intern

- Report news based on contributions from citizen journalist

- Contact citizen journalists, external parties, the authorities to get information on news events

- Cover selective news events (photo or video coverage)

- Curate viral content from social media

Learning points:

- Basic principles of journalism

- Acquire better writing skills

- Learn about the responsibilities of being a journalist

- Learn how to edit photos and videos

- Learn how to operate video and photo equipment

- Opportunities to take part in news coverage

- Learn how to talk to and obtain info from the different parties we work with: Members of the public, external agencies, the authorities

11) ST School Intern

- Interns will learn to and report assignments or events

- Come up with ideas to contribute at editorial meetings

- Background research work

- Help with uploading and content creation of digital publications/ products

- Contribute to running of events

Students should ideally:

- Be interested and updated on the news; ie. read the newspaper every day

- Be observant and inquisitive

- Be interested and unafraid of speaking to people, even those that they don't know personally

- Most importantly, have a good attitude of being open-minded, be willing to pitch in, eager to learn, courteous

In return, they will learn about:

- The workings of a newsroom

- What it takes to produce a story for publication

- Being a multi-faceted journalist (our team at ST Schools produces not only publications, but also are working on digital projects, books and events)

12) Call for a Video Intern! (The Business Times Video)

Open call for a professional internship with a newly created video unit.

You must be:

- Have experience editing in Premiere Pro, Photoshop and After Effects

- Have some basic knowledge of working in a production crew

- Willing to learn, have initiative and a positive attitude

Opportunities:

- Be involved in the pre-production and production of an ongoing online travel series
