Job Description

To plan, organize and perform physical property related activities with the objective of:

  • Contributing to the successful introduction of new products / processes to the plant
  • Providing technical troubleshooting support to plant operations department


  • Evaluate/develop/validate new physical properties methods for new chemical entities to ensure successful technology transfer from R&D
  • Provide physical property support (through testing, data interpretation and trending etc) for routine manufacture and to commissioning teams in the commissioning/validation of established/new products, as well as conduct training in physical properties to the relevant parties
  • Undertake troubleshooting of problems relating to the plant/processes to support the effective and prompt resolution of issues
  • Act as a point of contact to provide physical properties input to customers (internal and external)
  • Supervise technicians and junior staff to ensure good and safe work practice

The Successful Applicant

  • Sound knowledge of material characterization and physical chemistry/material science, with experience in X-ray diffraction, particle size and surface area measurement techniques preferred
  • Sound knowledge of crystallization, isolation and drying processes
  • Working knowledge of cGMP/GLP
  • Ability to independently generate, collate, evaluate and draw conclusions from experimental data
  • Qualifications
  • At least a degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in a laboratory environment in the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent
  • Able to positively influence colleagues and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated personal resilience in a dynamic and fast-moving workplace
