The purpose of the job is to support the Department Managers on the process design, including conceptual, front end and detailed design activities on a variety of pharmaceutical and food projects
Responsibilities:
Ensure adherence to PM Group procedures and quality systems, GMP’s and statutory requirements are met
To provide technical support to site based engineers during construction phase of a project
Perform work in compliance with PM’s Quality Management System
Demonstrate an understanding of scope of work assigned
Demonstrate an understanding of commercial aspects (man-hours and capital cost) of their work
Demonstrate knowledge of PM and/or industry standard methodologies and tools
Keep abreast of current technology, regulatory (including Environment Health and Safety) and industry standards within their discipline
Input to “Departmental Improvements” as appropriate
Carry out site visits / site surveys
Liaise with Senior colleagues and mentors as appropriate
Interact and communicate with own department, other departments, project team members, clients and other external parties to ensure co-ordination of activities
Prepare technical documents, including checking as appropriate, in accordance with agreed schedules and ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements
Liaise with Procurement Department on the preparation and evaluation of procurement and tender documentation
Plan and deliver multiple tasks in a timely fashion to meet project schedules
Deliver project work within budgeted man-hours
Demonstrate effective verbal and written Communications Skills
Provide site support for construction, installation, commissioning, modification and qualification
Complete PM’s Graduate Development Programme, complete necessary Institute requirements and reports and apply for Chartered Status
Represents PM positively when interacting with external parties
Preparation of Process Deliverables including
Basis of design
PFD’s and block flow diagrams
P&ID’s- process and utility
Equipment lists, data sheets and specifications
Equipment sizing basis
Time cycle analysis
HAZOPs
Utility sizing and specification
Mass and energy balance
Inputting process information into:
Automation deliverables
Mechanical deliverables
Layout deliverables
Instrumentation deliverables
Interaction with equipment vendors including:
Technical preparation of vendor bid documents,
Technical bid analysis of same
Review of process deliverables prepared by vendors
Requirements:
A Degree in chemical engineering
Primary Honours Degree (Level 8) in Engineering / Science
A minimum of 2 years design experience, in the pharmaceutical API, biotech or food / nutritional sectors
Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
Computer literate with good experience of MS Word and Excel
Proficient in the use of relevant engineering software
Experience in some of the following industries is essential:
Pharmaceutical
Biotechnology
Medical devices
Food/ nutritional
Understanding of pharmaceutical/ food GMP regulations, as well as GEP/ ISPE/ ASME standards etc
Experience of working with a design house or engineering company
Strong work ethic
Act with integrity
Good organizational skills
Flexible and willing to travel to meet project requirements
Conversant in both written and spoken technical English
