The Job


The Straits Times seeks an Analytics Specialist to be a part of their dynamic digital team. The Analytics Specialist is a key position that will lead data collection and analysis for ST on a daily basis to help product and editorial teams to better serve and grow the ST audience.


Job Responsibility

  • Importing, cleansing, transforming, validating, aggregating and analyzing data from various sources with the purpose of making conclusions and proactively provide new insights on mid and lon-term trends not only to ST but other analytics teams under SPH.
  • Create and manage analytics dashboards
  • Conduct analysis, summarizes key findings and trends, and produces data sheets, graphics and presentations.
  • Analyse key information on users and user journey and apply the data for editorial decisions.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, computer science or business strongly preferred
  • Strong analytic and critical thinking skills
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a data and analysis role; may include internships, school projects.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required. Candidate should be able to create and use pivot tables, and use other advanced functions.
  • Comfortable with common databases, SQL, experience in one scripting language (R, Python, Perl) required.
  • Experience with at least one analytics/visualisation tool such as Tableau, Qlikview, Microstrategy (but not limited to)
  • Familiar with the common data APIs, facebook graph API, google API.
  • Familiar with web analytics tools, GA, Adobe etc.
