TRADE COMMISSIONER

OIL & GAS / INFRASTRUCTURE

 

The High Commission of Canada in Singapore is seeking qualified candidates for indeterminate

employment in the Commercial/Economic Section.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Identify business opportunities in Singapore and match them with Canadian company capabilities

•Client acquisition through aggressive targeted outcalls

•Research, write and disseminate market insight to Canadian clients

•Initiate, organize and manage Canadian participation at trade events

•Raise awareness of Canadian branded products and services

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

•University Degree in engineering, commerce, marketing, business administration, international

trade or other related field 

 

Experience: 

•Minimum 5 years proven sales/marketing experience

•Experience in designing and executing business growth and marketing plans

•Proven track record in building and solid private and public sector contact network

 

Language: 

•An excellent knowledge of business English is essential.  Working knowledge of French will beconsidered an asset

 

Knowledge:

•Knowledge of public partnerships and international business and in depth understanding of the oil

& gas / infrastructure sector in Singapore and Southeast Asia

•Knowledge of local political and economic environment, business climate, government structureand a basic knowledge of Canada - economic, political, cultural, societal issues of the day

•Knowledge of client service policies and practices 

•Proficient in MS office applications software 

 

Abilities: 

•Strong interpersonal skills for dealing  with team, colleagues, clients, supervisors and contacts

•Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)

 

This position offers a competitive benefits package with a salary range starting from S$7641.00 per month plus a 1.5 months bonus per year.

 

Intent/result of this process a pool of qualified candidates as well as an eligibility list will be established

and may be used to staff similar, term and/or indeterminate positions, acting or emergency employment

situations with various tenures, linguistic profiles and security levels.

 

Candidates must demonstrate that they meet all requirements in order to be considered. Only short listed candidates will be contacted for an interview.  

 

A medical clearance and reliability status check will be required.  Security clearance and medical suitability are condition of employment. Candidate must retain his/her reliability status during his/her employment period.

 

Candidates must be permitted to work by the Government of Singapore and must maintain a valid work authorization covering the employment period.   The High Commission will not assist in obtaining

the necessary permission and does not sponsor employment pass applications.
