The second STJobs HR Connect took place at the Singapore Amara Hotel on 31 May 2013. Human Resource (HR) professionals from around Singapore were given exclusive invites to participate in this networking event that takes place once every quarter of the year.
Organised by STJobs, a product of Singapore Press Holdings, HR Connect 2013 allows HR Practitioners across all industries to network and mingle. They also attended a talk titled “HR Challenge: Enabling Business Growth”.
The talk was conducted by professional trainer and speaker Dr. Kevin Vince Fernando, who has more than 20 years of industrial experience. He is one of the few HR leaders to have progressed into a general management role at a global level.
He impressed the crowd with tips on achieving business growth in today’s emerging and dynamic markets. Additionally, he shared interesting business statistics about the growth of Fortune 500 companies, the difference between handling business growth in developed versus emerging markets, and what he looks for in a strategy-centric HR leader.
“The one outcome of HR is that you will have a differentiated workforce that is effective in helping the company grow,” he offered.
Mr Peter Tan, 53, Head of HR & Talent Development of Singapore Clinical Research Institute, felt the talk was informative and fulfilling. He said, “I think his session is very insightful. It’s not simply process-driven, but more business-driven and strategy-oriented.”
Event attendees had a tea break where they networked and found out more about STJobs. A lucky draw ceremony was also carried out where participants walked home with movie vouchers, dining vouchers, and theme park entry tickets.
Mr Steven Wong, Head of Marketing and Business Development at ST701 said, “We’re having this session to provide timely information on STJobs updates to all the HR professionals. We also want to take the chance to network with those in the industry, and hear from them so that we can improve our product.”
