DBS Bank has launched four new talent development programmes aimed at recent graduates with diplomas or degrees.

They are targeted at graduates keen on careers in retail banking, small and medium-sized enterprise banking and customer service. Under these programmes, new hires can look forward to accelerated training, job rotations, networking sessions and mentoring from senior leaders.

The bank introduced the new programmes to accommodate high demand for its existing talent development schemes, it said in a statement yesterday.

The bank's existing management associate programme and graduate associate programme for technology and operations, which together drew more than 7,000 applications last year, are designed to train new graduates to take on leadership positions.

DBS will be selecting more than 200 new graduates for the six programmes in total this year.

Three of the new programmes are aimed at degree-holders, while the service executive programme is for polytechnic diploma-holders who will be trained to serve bank branch customers.

"We believe many graduates who are in the early stages of their banking careers will look upon these programmes as an exciting opportunity," said DBS Singapore country head Sim S. Lim.

"Given our belief in the importance of growing our own timber and goal to be the university of talent in banking, we feel it is timely to grow our pool of emerging talent and provide greater opportunities for promising individuals to start banking careers on a strong foundation," said Ms Lee Yan Hong, group head of human resources at DBS Bank.
