Tan Su Shan, DBS' Group Head of Consumer Banking and Wealth Management, has been named Outstanding Private Banker of the Year by Private Banker International.
This is the first time a private banking professional from Asia has won the global award, since its inception more than 20 years ago.
The Private Banker International Global Wealth Awards identify and pay tribute to industry leaders and institutions which have done the most in the past year to advance and strengthen wealth management as an industry.
Said John Evans, editor-at-large of Private Banker International: "In the past decade, Singapore has become an outstanding global private banking centre... Ms Tan has taken a central role in the development of private banking in Singapore and further afield. She is one of the most influential private banking executives in Asia and, increasingly, in the global sphere."
Under Ms Tan's leadership, DBS has grown total assets under management for high net worth individuals by 20 per cent to $56 billion in 2012.
"Unlike traditional private banks, DBS is distinctive in that we are able to bring the whole bank to bear for our clients, and to offer them smart, innovative, and holistic solutions whether in their business or for their personal wealth," said Ms Tan.
"As part of our ongoing digital innovation initiative, we aim to develop a best-in-class digital wealth platform. This is to empower our clients so that they can get constant access to relevant information and customised research, and to enable their online and mobile transactions in a speedy and safe manner."
