For the first time in Singapore, there will be a competition for bus and truck drivers organised by manufacturing company, Scania.
The competition is open to drivers above 20 with a valid Class 4A, 4, or 5 licence to drive heavy commercial vehicles.
Participating drivers should also have good knowledge of transportation regulations in Singapore and Malaysia and be familiar with heavy trucks or buses, ideally Scania trucks or buses.
Those interested can submit their entry forms in a qualifying round, which includes a theory test, by July 31.
Participants who make it to the final round will have to navigate an obstacle course in the safest, most fuel-efficient and eco-friendliest way.
Cash prizes, trophies and certificates will be presented to three winners chosen in each of two categories: Truck and Bus. The supporting truck and bus owners of each category champion will receive Scania Service vouchers.
Mr Mark Cameron, Regional Director for South Malaysia & Singapore and Country Manager for Singapore, said: "Scania wants to honour the finest among our professional truck and bus drivers and to raise the profile of a profession that requires a high degree of skill and knowledge in road safety and fuel economy."
According to Mr Cameron, this is the first time a competition of this kind and scale is held in Singapore. Scania has been holding biennial driver competitions for 10 years, involving 100,000 drivers from 50 countries over the decade.
Entry forms can be obtained from: http://scania.com.sg/about-scania/scaniadrivercompetitions/ or from Scania Singapore's branches.
Completed entries can be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5.00pm on July 31.
