Do not shout back

No matter what happened, you should never ever shout back at your boss. Not only will it worsen the situation, it will also put you at risk of getting fired. Instead, stay calm and collective then give your side of explanation.

You need to understand that your boss is constantly busy with many things, and might not understand what you were doing, so explain yourself.

Apologies

If you have made a mistake, admit to your mistake and apologise. After that, work out a way to solve the problem as soon as possible. Do not find any excuses or push the blame to someone else, it will only make you look bad in the eyes of your boss.

Remember that everyone make mistakes, but what’s important is that you should admit to the mistake and learn from it rather than pushing the blame somewhere else.

Don’t Be Afraid

If you didn’t do it, don’t admit. Your boss has no idea who made the mistake, and scolding you is just an assumption that he made. If you haven’t done anything wrong, don’t be afraid to speak up and defend yourself. Explain to him that the mistake was not made by you, but assure him that you will find a solution to solve the problem as soon as possible.

Follow Up

After 1 or 2 days of the incident, send an email or ask your boss personally about the situation. Check if he is okay and if everything is solved, this will create a memorable experience in the mind of your boss and you can leave a good impression.
