The man who came up with Changi as the site for Singapore's first international airport was lauded yesterday at a ceremony to mark the completion of renovation works to Terminal 1.
Mr Howe Yoon Chong was chairman of the special committee on airport development in 1975. He died in 2007, aged 84.
Yesterday, his 86-year-old widow Wan Fook Yin (right) was given a book on the airport's history by Minister of State for Finance and Transport Josephine Teo. The $500 million upgrade took four years to complete.
