In September 2012, the Ministry of Manpower released findings on the average monthly earnings of employees in Singapore as per the second quarter of the year. Employees were categorised by their job industries, including real estate services, wholesale & retail trade, administrative & support services and information & communications.

Of all the job industries surveyed, those who work in the financial & insurance services sector were found to be the highest earning at a mean average of $7,498 per month. On the other hand, the accommodation & food services trade earned the lowest salaries at a mean average of $1,507 per month. Generally, the average monthly salaries across all industries have dipped from the first quarter of the year - the most being from financial & insurance services with a difference of $2,403, and the least being from the information & communications industry, with a difference of $53.
