Job Description

This position is one of four full-time locally employed staff in the American Citizens Services (ACS) unit. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the whole range of passport and citizenship services, including collection, oversight and return of accountable items to Consular Officer.
  • Process a variety of American Citizens Services (ACS) cases, data entry, provides assistance and information requested by the U.S. citizens. 
  • Assist with special consular and emergency services such as deaths, arrests, destitution, repatriation, medical evacuation, welfare and whereabouts, etc. 
  • Serve as one of the unit's several language interpreters and performs other duties as required.    

Job Requirements

  • Successful completion of secondary school or high school education is required.
  • At least three (3) years of progressively more responsible experience involving the interpretation of complex regulatory material and extensive public contact is required.
  • Must have fluent, strong English written and oral communication skills in the areas of routine transmission of information, tact and diplomacy and complex explanations, and competent skills in situations requiring care and compassion.
  • Must have good oral communication skills in one other designated language (Mandarin, Malay, Tamil or Burmese).
  • Must be able to work quickly with minimum supervision and to guide others. 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software programs (Outlook, Word, Excel), and the ability to use and understand various software applications and systems used in Consular and ACS sections.
