You lead and supervise a small team to leverage data science methods and techniques to enhance MINDEF/SAF’s strategic communications. You supervise the derivation of data-driven insights and recommendations from the application of data science, integrated with social science insights, to study MINDEF/SAF’s audiences and defence-related issues. You also supervise the translation of data into visual insights and recommendations to guide MINDEF/SAF’s strategic communications strategy, policy and planning across public and internal communications, and community engagement. Additionally, you guide your team to develop and maintain the communications data architecture to support analysis and decision-making. Your challenge lies in explaining complex data and technical findings to strategic communications practitioners and decision makers, and understanding MINDEF/SAF’s organisational considerations and the intricacies of the information environment that MINDEF/SAF operates in.

You must have a tertiary qualification in mathematics, economics, statistics, computer science, psychometrics, operational research or a related field, preferably with 5 to 10 years’ relevant work experience in a data science, analytics or communications role, of which at least 2 years is in a supervisory capacity. You should have the necessary technical knowledge, and be familiar with analysis methods, data management, programming languages and visualisation software. Possession of strong analytical, problem-solving, presentation and communication skills is required.
