Job Description

As a Business Technology Strategist, you will work in the SPHTech Future Ready team to ensure the technology landscape is aligned with the strategic, business, operational and tactical goals of SPH.

The role requires a good understanding of the strategic values of business and technology relationships. You are a digital strategist to shape and communicate how technology can be used to impact business outcome and capabilities. 

You will drive and coordinate the business technology strategy, architecture enterprise architecture program and technology initiatives. You will also contribute towards strategic planning, industry partnership and outreach. You will define plans and shape the organisation’s overall technology direction and strategy. 


  • Understand the business goals, capabilities and processes. Adapt architectural models and frameworks to identify key relationships and gaps between business objectives, processes and systems. Understand the technology landscape of SPH and the impact of technology on SPH’s business. Develop and communicate a strategic plan and technology enhancement programs to generate business outcome and value. 
  • Drive and deliver the enterprise architecture (business) strategy in collaboration with extended domain teams. Undertake research and analysis to capture current state architecture and identify future trends, thereafter develop recommendations for shared application and architecture to reduce costs and facilitate information flow. 
  • Monitor and analyze industry and technology trends and market changes. Shape the organisation’s technology directions. 
  • Guide technology decisions toward consistency across SPH via the definition and development of technology roadmaps.
  • Identify and source partnership opportunities to drive innovation and new growth opportunities
  • Align processes, resource planning and department goals with the overall strategy
  • Work with product and technology teams to ensure projects and designs are in line with the strategic plan and EA frameworks. Provide guidance and manage solutions and integrations across programmes

Job Requirements

  • A good university degree. Masters is preferred.
  • Eight or more years in the consulting field with experience in planning, research and managing digital/innovation projects.
  • Ability to develop and communicate future state models and plans, an independent natural who adapts models and articulates diagram linkages with documentation
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technologies and digital trends, especially in the media and publishing industry.
  • Familiarity with EA Framework (e.g. TOGAF), additional certifications for IT service management (e.g. ITIL) or business analysis (e.g. CBAP) is a plus. 
  • Experience with modern technology stack such as cloud, microservices, dockers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, test automation etc is advantages.
  • Strategic and transdisciplinary thinking skills, analytical with strong organizational abilities
  • Strong negotiation and collaborative skills for a cross-cultural environment
  • Energetic, highly motivated, can-do attitude who enjoys networking and establishing relationships
  • Excellent in designing and delivering engaging presentations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
