Job Description

The Business Times (BT) is South-east Asia’s leading business publication based in Singapore, the region’s financial hub. In addition to local and regional corporate news and commentary, BT covers economic policy, startups, wealth, property, lifestyle and SMEs, with a growing focus on emerging markets, new investments and ESG (environmental, social and governance).

We are looking for a proactive, dynamic individual to be part of an exciting new team focused on growing BT’s base of young users. As Community Manager (Young Audience), you will effectively engage this emerging audience of professionals and career-minded tertiary students, and empower them to achieve success in both work and life.

In this role, your key responsibilities are to:

  •  Develop, together with the Young Audience team, a strategy to grow and retain   BT’s young audience (aged 18 to 28).
  • Generate and maintain a lively virtual community across different platforms (e.g. a LinkedIn group) that will empower young people, and provide resources to do so, including the best and most relevant from BT’s journalism.
  •  Work with the Young Audience team to plan, organise and execute events (e.g. panels, webinars, workshops) targeted at BT’s young users,
  •  Collaborate with external partners and sponsors (e.g. major employers, tertiary institutions) to achieve win-win outcomes with young audience initiatives.
  • Explore, with BT’s editors and social media team, ways to extend the reach of BT’s journalism to young audiences
  • Front and host young audience initiatives where necessary

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a community-building, social media-related or youth-facing role.
  • Proactive, with strong project management and logistics skills. An outgoing, friendly and charismatic personality is a plus.
  • Comfort with cross-functional work. Proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with multiple departments.
  • A background in media, marketing, or digital content is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience in hosting events and membership/loyalty programmes a plus.
  • Ability to use analytics tools such as Google Analytics (GA) is a plus.
  • An appreciation of BT’s brand and journalistic values is a must.
