A newspaper for the local Malay community, Berita Harian was established on July 1, 1957. It presents news and issues from home, the region and the world, featuring a wide spectrum of topics from sports to politics and religion. Other highlights include Malay culture and tradition, arts and heritage, family, hobbies and leisure. Berita Harian also provides a platform for the Malay community to voice their views on issues that concern them. It is a paper that speaks with authority and understands the needs of the Malay community.

Berita Harian's editorial team is looking for a Content Sub Editor. 

As a Content Sub Editor, you are passionate and enthusiastic about how articles are presented, with a keen eye for an engaging headline. You will work on both print and online platforms of Berita Harian, subbing and uploading articles, writing Search Engine Optimisation-friendly headlines and picture captions. Prior experience in developing creative social content, newsletter emails, videos, infographics, blogs etc would be a bonus.

Key Requirements
● You pay strong attention to detail and deliver work that is of a high standard with excellent text-editing and fact-checking skills, with the ability to write attention-grabbing, accurate headlines.
● As a Content Sub-Editor for print, you will fact check, plug information holes, and turn reporters’ copy into tight, clear, and readable stories before they are published online or in the print newspaper.
● You will be required to write headlines, captions, and layout pages that will draw readers into a story. Creative flair would also come into play as you would be required to design pages and/or related supplements.
● For online and digital platforms, you must demonstrate a working knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and writing headlines for the internet
● You will be required to use the web content management system efficiently and upload content without errors in a fast-paced environment
● You keep abreast of evolving trends across digital platforms and media and understand in detail how social media platforms work
● You are willing to work during irregular hours (early mornings or night shifts)
