As a copy editor, you are the first line of defence in publishing content created by reporters, correspondents and other content producers. You keep up to date with news developments and have a keen news sense and judgment, so that you are able to ensure stories are properly angled.
You will need to fine-tune the structure of a story so that it flows clearly, coherently and logically. You must be able to spot critical information gaps and pitfalls in a story. You are responsible for editing copy to ensure proper use of language, including grammar and syntax, and deliver copy that adheres to house style.
