We are looking for a Data Strategist with a journalistic mindset to join our dynamic newsroom. You will be responsible for collecting, analyzing and interpreting large data sets, which is then used in developing data-driven insights to solve newsroom-specific problems and grow our audiences.
You will be working with both editorial and non-editorial staff. Strong communication skills are needed. Candidates may or may not have an in-depth knowledge of the media industry currently. However, candidates should have a positive attitude towards learning and develop a solid understanding of the industry in order to derive meaningful insights for the newsroom.
The successful candidate should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with website and social media analytics tools such as Google Analytics, comScore, Crowdtangle and equivalent, computer languages such as Python, SQL, and R, data visualization tools such as Tableau and knowledge of data mining will be preferred.
Set KPIs and goals, design and evaluate experiments, monitor key product metrics, understand root causes of changes in metrics.
Apply expertise in quantitative analysis and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our users interact with our products and content.
Conduct exploratory/predictive analysis to understand our ecosystems, user behaviours, identify long-term strategies to grow audience engagement and optimise workflows.
Work in cross-functional teams to boost automation and lead efforts to create easy-to-use data tools for CMGN editorial staff.
Work as a key member of the team to solve problems, identify trends and discover new opportunities.
Work with journalists on data-driven stories.
