A newspaper for the local Malay community, Berita Harian was established on July 1, 1957. It presents news and issues from home, the region and the world, featuring a wide spectrum of topics from sports to politics and religion. Other highlights include Malay culture and tradition, arts and heritage, family, hobbies and leisure. Berita Harian also provides a platform for the Malay community to voice their views on issues that concern them. It is a paper that speaks with authority and understands the needs of the Malay community.

As a photojournalist, you will capture newsworthy events and people through the lens to make news reports more interesting. You must know how to take impressive photos, have an interest in current affairs and possess a good understanding of Malay/Muslim community’s culture as well as issues close to their hearts.

In addition to having a sense of news and mastering technology, the work of a photojournalist also requires good physical strength and the ability to work under pressure.

Requirements

• Minimum Degree from a recognized university in Communications, Photojournalism or equivalent or a relevant portfolio with at least tertiary level qualification
• Experience with Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro or equivalent software
• Effectively bilingual in Malay and English, with good written skills
• Able to adapt to irregular working hours and willing to work on shifts
• Must be driven, independent, reliable and highly adaptable to changes
