SALES DIRECTOR, Asia-Pacific (F/M/D)

Job Description

  • Achieve sales and profitability targets within cost budgets, in particular through aggressive growth in sales of electronic databases, eBooks and journals
  • Set regional sales strategy, planning to maximize revenue from existing key markets while building sales in less developed ones
  • Build and manage the regional sales team
  • Strategic business management (pipeline management, country and customer development)
  • Proactive relationship-management and support of local sales agencies and distributors
  • Input into product development and marketing plans for the region

 


Job Requirements

  • Significant senior sales experience and a proven track record of success within the publishing or information industries in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly with electronic databases, journals and eBooks
  • Specific knowledge of the institutional market and good contacts with key customers in the region would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience of managing international/remote sales teams and partners
  • Demonstrable track record in originating and implementing market development plans
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills as well as strong negotiation skills
  • Fluency in English is essential 
  • Knowledge of one or more major Asian language (Chinese, Japanese) would be an advantage.  Need to liaise with Chinese and/or Japanese speaking associates / clients
