You provide professional counselling to servicemen with mental health and psycho-social issues. As the subject matter expert on counselling-related matters, you undertake the management of difficult cases, and develop individualised psychological care plans. You also provide clinical supervision to counsellors and paracounsellors on the effective management and treatment of counselees. Additionally, you respond to operational needs and critical events, including leading teams, and conducting critical incident stress debriefings for MINDEF/SAF servicemen involved in critical incidents. You conduct horizon scanning to anticipate, identify and prepare for future trends, as well as conduct psychological mental health research on counselling, social and behavioural trends using empirical data. You also plan the preventive education strategies and training curriculum to meet the needs of commanders and managers in MINDEF/SAF.

You must have a tertiary qualification, preferably with a postgraduate degree in counselling, social work or a related discipline, with at least 6 years’ relevant experience. You should also preferably be a registered practitioner with the Singapore Association for Counselling, Singapore Association of Social Workers or Association of Professionals Specialising in Addiction Counselling.
