The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work within a broader product development team to:
- Participate in ideation, conceptualization, design, and validation.
- Participate in design reviews to surface issues and derive optimal robust solutions that satisfy customers' business, product, and quality needs.
- Collaborate within same discipline, cross-functional team members, and customer's R&D engineers.
- Communicate design concepts, technical trade-offs, and engineering solutions.
Perform advanced electrical engineering functional tasks including:
- Manage sub-assembly/PCA projects to meet defined objectives, including targeted cost, schedule, and budget.
- Define/refine requirements, specifications, and architecture, design electrical/electronic components, subsystems, and printed circuit assemblies.
- Oversee the on-time manufacture and delivery of components PCAs, PCBs.
- Perform functional and reliability tests of subsystems/PCAs, troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Create the necessary documentation (design intent, failure analysis reports etc) for the subsystems/PCAs.
- Maintain engineering responsibility of the subsystems/PCA through the product life cycle, and create product change orders as necessary.
- Have a good understanding of systems engineering covering mechanical & firmware integration.
- Must be sensitive to cost during the architecture phase & able to propose trade-offs between cost, quality & functionality.
Perform senior technical roles including:
- Develop EE architecture of new products.
- Provide technical leadership to other engineers.
- Participate in bidding for new projects by providing technical evaluation & staffing plans.
- Ability to develop control systems for testing rapid prototypes.
- Ability to conduct experimentation & generate reports to customers.
- Possess good communication skills in English, both written & oral as this position will entail engaging external customers.
- Must be knowledgeable in PCA testing (e.g. ICT, FCT) and PCA qualification.
- Ability to multi task on different project simultaneously.
- Advise the R&D management team in setting the strategic direction for technical & competence development to prepare the company for the next phase of growth.
- Recommendation of technical resources to various projects based on domain knowledge & experience.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor, Masters or Ph. D in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Min 8 years of working experience in electronic hardware design in R&D or similar product generation environment.
- Design experience in printers, medical devices or other complex electro-mechanical products is an advantage. Other relevant experiences include ARM/PIC, USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet, op amp and discrete transistor design, high speed design, and FPGAs.
- Conversant with DFx and quality concepts including designing for manufacturability, verification and reliability testing, and regulatory requirements.
- Working knowledge of CAD design tools, including Altium Designer, PCB design and layout tools
- Able to travel overseas with the possibility of extended stays in order to collaborate with engineering or development teams.
- Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English and good inter-personal skills to interact with team members, customers, and vendors.
