As a Sub-Editor, you will fact check, plug information holes, and turn reporters’ copy into tight, clear and readable stories. You will be required to write headlines, captions and lay out pages that will draw readers into a story. Creative flair would also be an asset as you would be required to design pages for the The Business Times and/or related supplements and magazines.
As the paper is an integrated print-digital publication, the sub-editor’s role also involves editing and uploading stories for the paper’s online and mobile editions. Other duties include curating content from various sources to populate the paper’s print, web and mobile editions.
Applicants should have a strong command of English and an eye for details and design. A degree, experience or interest in economics and business news would be an advantage. Fresh graduates keen to learn will be considered.
Working hours generally start from late afternoon until the paper goes to print at 12.30 am.
Relevant degree in Communications, New Media, Business, Finance, Journalism or any relevant fields
Effectively bilingual in English and any other Asian language.
Demonstrate ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Ability to work at irregular working hours from late afternoon to 12:30 am.
