SPH's ongoing transformative journey hinges on improving and creating products that delight our customers. This can only be achieved by thoroughly understanding our customers and their motivations. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating engagement and collaboration across various disciplines in the business, and ensure that the consumers’ needs are properly understood and seriously considered in all product departments. You will work closely with the Editors, Product Developers, Product Managers, Interaction Designers, and other departments for the purpose of promoting the best practices in consumer research. The role also involves not only interfacing with customers and stakeholders, but also processing and analysing qualitative and quantitative data, and keeping up to date with the best practices in user experience research.
Conduct user interviews, usability tests, take notes and observations - initially under the supervision of the UX research lead, thereafter to be able to perform these tasks independently
Use LEAN methodologies of UX Research with the Research Lead.
Carry out quantitative research on SPH digital products
Transcribe interview recordings (audio and/or video) into time-stamped transcripts
Recruit suitable participants for user interviews and tests
2. Education & Evangelism
Document and present actionable product research findings of your own to the various Product Management departments. The presentation of research findings are delivered in an engaging way that is comprised of oral, visual, and written reports.
Provide clear points of improvement for the product and research approaches to various product teams as well as the Senior UX Researcher
At least 2 years of work experience in statistical analysis, qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, product usability moderating, experimental design, and test method selection
Experience in the integration of consumer research into a business’s product design practice
Experience in product usability testing tools, for example Keynote
Must display a strong comprehension of the strengths and limitations of the different research methods, inclusive of when and how to apply each in product/market/consumer analyses
Ability to work well independently as well as with a team
Fast learner and worker
UX Research is as much about patient listening as it is about facilitation. So, willingness to learn, patient disposition is key
Enthusiastic about research in general, and UX research in particular
Expected to conduct himself/herself in a professional manner when interacting with users and stakeholders
Highly proficient in English. Working proficiency in a second language (Chinese, Malay or Tamil) will be a plus
Must display a genuine passion for product-centric innovation; must have a keen and exceptional attention to detail; and more importantly, an ability to identify root recommendations inspired by the consumers’ needs and behaviors
