The Business Times (BT) is South-East Asia’s leading business publication based in Singapore, the region’s financial hub. As an audience-centred digital news publisher, we are looking for meticulous individuals with an eye for detail who are ready to work in a fast-paced, real-time environment to deliver high-quality content to our readers. 

In the Digital Sub-Editor role, you will work closely with BT’s editors, digital content and audience teams to ensure a high standard of editorial content that is optimised for a digital audience across BT’s platforms, including (but not limited to) its website, apps and multimedia offerings.

Responsibilities

• Swiftly edit copy into tight, clear and readable stories before they are published on BT’s various platforms
• Conduct fact-checking to ensure accuracy and identify logical leaps or holes in reporting.
• Write headlines and captions, select images, and improve story ledes to draw online audiences
• Assist with real-time story lineups for BT’s homepage, oversee and send push notifications
• Assist with digital content optimisation, including adding hyperlinks to stories, embedding video and other mobile-friendly visual content, tagging content
• Monitor and draw from wires and other sources to assist in populating BT’s site with breaking news

Requirements

• Applicants should have a strong command of English and an eye for accuracy and, details. 
• Ability to execute editing and optimisation tasks swiftly given the real-time environment of a digital news site.
• A degree, experience or interest in economics, stock markets and business affairs would be an advantage. 
• Familiarity with Search Engine Optimisation, Internet-friendly headlines, social media platforms are pluses.
• Knowledge of analytics tools (including Google Analytics and Chartbeat) is not necessary, but would be useful.
• Flexibility in deployment across afternoon or evening shifts.
